Description:
Artefill® is the first and only dermal injectable filler that can promise permanent results. Artefill is composed of 80% collagen and 20% Precision-Filtered Microspheres™, this microscopic spheres are made from a substance called PMMA. PMMA is a synthetic polymer (plastic) found in medical implants. Artefill is safe and FDA approved for adding permentant volume to nasolabial folds (smile lines/laugh lines). Artefill can also be used for lip, chin, and cheek enhancement. Because of the permanent nature of this product, Artefill is recommended for those who have already tried and enjoyed the results of other dermal fillers like Restylane, Juvederm, and Perlane.

Time Required:
Artefill injections take 30 minutes or less to complete. Typically only 1 to 2 treatments are needed, however, sometimes additional injections are needed for permanent results.

Side Effects:
Side effects with Artefill are uncommon but they may include swelling, redness, and tenderness in the treated area. A sensation of firmness after Artefill injections is common, and dissipates with time.

Risks:
Risks with Artefill include the migration product or shifting. Another risk is the formation of granuloma. Granuloma is a nodule created by healing tissues trying to expel foreign substances in the body. Allergic reaction to the bovine collagen in Artefill is also possible.

Duration of Results:
Artefill offers permanent removal of fine lines and wrinkles.

Recovery Time:
Most patients can resume normal activity immediately after Artefill injections.

Insurance:
Artefill injections are a cosmetic procedure not covered by insurance.

Level of Discomfort:
Artefill treatments are often seen as less comfortable as other dermal injectables. This is because Artefill uses a slightly larger gauge needle than treatments like Restylane.
