Facelift

Description:
The effects of time can leave ones face looking old and tired, a Facelift or Rhytidectomy, is one highly effective way to counter this problem. Wrinkles and sagging can be removed leaving the face looking more youthful and defined.

The Procedure:
A Facelift starts with the tightening of muscles and facial tissue. Excess skin and fat is then removed from the face and neck taking years off the patient's appearance.

Time Required:
A face-lift usually takes at least 3 hours to perform. This time may vary based on the extent of the work being done

Side Effects:
The side effects from a Facelift may include temporary swelling, bruising, tightness and numbness.

Risks:
All surgical procedures carry with them some level of risk. The risk specific to a Facelift may include: an imbalance on the hairline, facial asymmetry and excessive scaring.

Duration of Results:
The results of a Facelift are long lasting, often 10 years or more, your results may vary based on genetic and lifestyle factors.

Recovery Time:
The sutures form the Facelift are usually removed within 2 weeks of the surgery. It is around this time that the bruising and swelling goes down enough to return to work. The final results of the Facelift will not be apparent till 4-6 weeks after the procedure.

Insurance:
Due to the cosmetic nature of the Facelift procedure, it is not usually covered by insurance.

Level of Discomfort:
The pain and discomfort following a Facelift is usually described as minimal, and can easily be managed through oral painkillers.

A local anesthetic with sedation or general anesthesia may be sued.
