Forehead and Brow Lift

Procedure Description:
A forehead lift, or brow lift, is a plastic surgery treatment designed to enhance the appearance of the eyebrow and forehead regions of the face. Forehead lifts can relax the muscles of the face, which will lessen skin tension and reduce the appearance of wrinkles.  Forehead and brow lifts can also tightening droopy skin around the eyebrow. Large forehead creases often result in a scowled or tired appearance and a forehead lift can help create a refreshed and more youthful look.

Time Required:
Forehead and brow lifts surgery typically last 1-2 hours but can differ depending on the patient’s individual needs.

In/Out Patient Info:
Forehead lifts are usually performed on an outpatient basis.

Side Effects:
The side effects of forehead and brow lifts may include bruising of the eyebrow and forehead region, swelling, and increased sensitivity. These side effects will generally subside within the first few days after forehead lift surgery.

Risks:
Brow lift cosmetic surgery is a safe treatment if performed correctly but like all surgery there is the risk of infection and bleeding.

Duration of Results:
A forehead lift or brow lift can last 10 years or more but the results vary person to person depending on the aging process.

Recovery:
Protective surgical wrappings are often worn after a forehead lift and must be kept on for the first week of recovery. Swelling and bruising typically subside after 1-2 weeks of healing.

Insurance Info:
Because of the cosmetic nature of a forehead and brow lift, it is not covered by most insurance companies.

Anesthesia:
General anesthesia is usually employed with brow lift plastic surgery, but a local anesthetic with sedative may also be employed.
