Labial Rejuvenation

Description: Some women may be embraced by the size and shape of their labia, especially while wearing certain pants or having sexual intercourse. Labial Rejuvenation is performed to reshape or reduce the labia minora (inner lips). Excess skin is removed and the labia are reshaped giving the patient back the confidence she didn't know she had.

Time Required: Labial Rejuvenation usually takes about an hour but this may vary,

In/Out Patient: Outpatient.

Side Effects: The side effects of Labial Rejuvenation may include temporary, change in sensation, bruising or swelling.

Risks: All surgical procedure carry with them some risks. The risks specific to Labial Rejuvenation may include: skin loss, loss of sensation and loss of function.

Duration of Results: The results of Labial Rejuvenation are permanent.

Recovery Time: Many patients return to work 1 week after the surgery but some may require up to two weeks. Two weeks is also when patients fully recover although tampon use and sexual intercourse should be avoided until 6 weeks after the surgery.

Insurance: Due to the cosmetic nature of Labial Rejuvenation, it is not usually covered by insurance.

Level of Discomfort: There is some pain associated with Labial Rejuvenation, but it can usually be managed through pain medication.

Anesthesia: Labial Rejuvenation usually involves a local anesthetic although some patients may opt for general anesthesia.
