Radiance/Radiesse

Procedure Description:

Radiance/Radiesse™ is an injectable filler, but unlike those made from hyaluronic acid, Radiesse is made from the same mineral component as bone and teeth.  And unlike collagen because Radiesse is a natural substance there is no need for the skin to be tested before treatment. 

Like other dermal fillers, Radiesse can be used to fill wrinkles and augment lips, bit different though is in how long it lasts.  Radiesse can last between 2 and 5 years.  It’s suggested that if you've never tried lip augmentation or wrinkle removing injections before, not to start with Radiesse.  But if you’ve been happy in the past, Radiesse is probably the long lasting dermal filler for you.

Time Required:
15-30 minutes to perform Radiance/Radiesse

In/Out Patient Info:
Outpatient.

Side Effects:
Side effects with Radiesse are rare, but it’s possible to experience bruising, swelling or redness at the injection site.  Temporary tenderness or headaches are also possible.

Duration of Results:
Radiance or Radiesse can last up to 2-5 years!

Recovery:
Since Radiance/Radiesse lasts longer than other injectable fillers, it can make the facial muscles sore or give patients a headache on the day of treatment. Most people are fine by the next day and can resume their normal activities.

Insurance Info:
Due to the cosmetic nature of Radiance/Radiesse, insurance usually does not apply.

Discomfort Level:
Minor discomfort may be felt at the injection site. 

Anesthesia:

A local anesthetic is generally used during Radiesse injection, and is often accompanied by a topical numbing cream.

Can be Combined With:
For enhanced results, patients might consider combining dermal injections with other cosmetic treatments like IPL Photofacial or Thermage™.
