While people tend to think of a rhinoplasty procedure or "nose job" as a type of cosmetic surgery, it actually has many purposes, both aesthetic and functional. Certainly, many people undergo rhinoplasty operations to improve their appearance and self-confidence, but the surgery is also regularly used to fix medical problems as well. Broken noses, respiratory problems and deviated septums are a few common issues that people choose to correct with rhinoplasty surgery. All in all, nose surgery remains one of the single most popular cosmetic procedures that are performed today.
As always, it's important to discuss your condition and cosmetic concerns with an experienced plastic surgeon before pursuing rhinoplasty, or any other surgical procedure. By contacting our helpful representatives, you can ask questions about the surgery itself, or let us schedule your first rhinoplasty consultation with a plastic surgeon near you!
Patients can also look at SignatureForum's rhinoplasty ratings and reviews section to see how former patients rated the procedure. After completing rhinoplasty surgery, patients are invited to post their own review of their experience!

"This was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. My new nose looks great, thanks to my doctor who is a plastic surgery wizard! I’ve always had a large bump on the bridge of my nose, people would stare and it really bothered me so I decided to look into a nose job. The week after the surgery was not easy, every time I looked in the mirror all I saw were bruises and swollenness. The pain was actually not so bad, but I did have a constant runny nose which the doctor warned me about. My nose is … Read More" - Submitted by Nancy L. of San Fernando, CA |

"I had a nose job a few years ago that was not done very well, so recently I went in for a revision with a new doctor. The last surgery left me with a nose that was way too upturned. I don’t know what that doctor was thinking, but I’ve been so embarrassed about it that I avoided my family and even considered moving to another city. Enough is enough, so I went in for the revision. It wasn’t cheap and I’m still not sure if I like it, but it’s still sooo much better than what it was like before. … Read More" - Submitted by Anonymous |
Average Cost Range: $4,293.00 - $4,693.00
The Procedure:
A nose job incorporates artistic talents as much as technical skill. A cosmetic surgeon can reshape any nose to best suit its face, from changing its size to narrowing nostrils, re-aligning the tip, or changing the angle between your upper lip and nose.
Time Required:
Rhinoplasty surgery can take anywhere from 1-2 hours, depending on the extent of the work.
In/Out Patient:
Usually outpatient
Side Effects / Risks:
Along with temporary bruising and swelling, there are small risks of minor blood vessel bursting (causing redness), asymmetry, and infection.
Duration of Results:
Results of rhinoplasty surgery should be permanent.
Recovery Time:
A cast or split should be worn for ten days following a nose job. Recovery from bruising and swelling usually takes 2-4 weeks, and in about 3 months your nose should have taken shape nicely. Learn more about how individual rhinoplasty patients experienced recovery, in the nose surgery ratings and reviews section.
Insurance:
Insurance can cover rhinoplasty in cases of medical conditions like a deviated septum, breathing problems, or facial damage.
Level of Discomfort:
During a rhinoplasty, anesthesia will ease any pain during surgery, and basic pain medication should handle most of the lingering aches for the few days afterward.
Can Be Combined With:
Chin Augmentation, Blepharoplasty, Mid Face Lift, Cheek Implants
Also Known As:
Nose Reduction, Nose Augmentation, Nose Surgery, Nose Job, Nasal Surgery
