Stretch Mark Removal

Procedure Description:

Stretch marks can be difficult to remove, but there are a few different methods that a skin care specialist can provide for stretch mark removal.  The most common treatment methods include topical cream, microdermabrasion, laser stretch mark removal, and surgical removal.  Most clinics that offer non-surgical methods for stretch mark removal usually offer a combination of microdermabrasion and lasers.  This is possibly the most effective, safe treatment for stretch marks.

Microdermabrasion - Microdermabrasion exfoliates the skin with a fine crsytiline mist.  Microderms are typically not effective for permanent skin problems like deep wrinkles or permanent scars, but as a stretch mark remover microdermabrasion might be able to help eliminate small fine lines.  Stretch mark removal depends on how extensive the stretch mark damage is and how new the stretch mark is.  While not powerful, microdermabrasion is one of the safest treatments found. 

Topical Cream – StriVectin®, Zenmed® Stretta, and Trilastin®  are a few of the topical stretch mark creams on the market.  Most creams can be purchased at medspas or used in conjunction with your microdermabrasion treatment.  Used daily, stretch mark removal creams can change the length, depth, and irregular surface of stretch marks.  Like microdermabrasion, removal has been found to work best with creams on more recent stretch marks. 

Laser Treatments – Laser stretch mark removal is a safe option to try to reestablish natural collagen to your scarred area.  The discoloration of stretch marks is due to poor collagen flow.  Laser skin resurfacing removes the outer layer of skin and promotes new cell growth.  Lasers are good for deep wrinkles and for eliminating mild to moderate stretch marks. 

No treatment today is 100% at treating older stretch marks.  The best advice is to remove them as soon as they appear.  For the most extreme cases of stretch marks, your best option is to check with a certified skin care professional and devise a combination of aesthetic treatments.
