Thighplasty

Description:
A thighplasty is a proven surgical method for lifting and reshaping sagging or dimpled skin around the thighs. The thighs are often one of the areas of the body most affected by the effects of aging and major weight loss. This is especially the case for women, as the thighs serve as a center of gravity, with skin often left loose and unsightly during the time frame following a pregnancy.

The Procedure:
A thighplasty procedure effectively removes the excess fat deposits and skin from around the circumference of the thighs, creating a firmer, more toned and youthful appearance.

Time Required:
Thighplasty surgeries can take anywhere from 2-4 hours, depending on the extent of the operation.

Side Effects / Risks:
Temporary bruising and swelling are common. In much rarer cases, infection, nerve or tissue damage, scarring, and bleeding can occur.

Duration of Results:
Results of a thighplasty can be permanent, particularly when a patient maintains a consistent weight and lifestyle after the operation.

Recovery Time:
Compression garments should be worn for a few days after surgery. Most patients return to work after 1-2 weeks. Strenuous activity, however, should be avoided for the first month to six weeks after a thighplasty.

Insurance:
For a thighplasty, insurance will rarely cover it, due to its cosmetic nature.

Level of Discomfort:
During a thighplasty, anesthesia will ease any pain during surgery, and basic pain medication should handle most of the lingering discomfort.
