Face it, if you're 25 or older, pores are a fact of life. I remember the old days... why it seems like just a year ago (which it basically was a year ago) when my skin was always fresh faced and ready for the day. But the fact is that as we get older our pores become larger and more noticeable, this mean you can't treat your skin the same way at 30 as you did at 22. So, the big questions are, why do our pores enlarge and what can we do about it?
The reason pores become large is because of oil. You don't grow new pores, but as you get older, your skin simply becomes oilier. Oil clogs pores giving them a larger appearance. The answer to large pores then is fairly simple: to treat large pores, you simply need to unclog them. Pore reduction is impossible, your pores are yours and the number is predetermined, however, you can make your pores small enough to be all but invisible.
Of all the treatments for large pores I've ever heard of the strangest has to be tomatoes. I've never done this and considering the recent tomato scare, it's probably the last thing most of us would want to do. It's probably the last thing any of us would want to do... period. But I've heard of putting tomatoes on your face, although, I can't confirm that it works. Treatments for large pores do not need to be that elaborate though. Simply go to the store and look for a nice grainy exfoliator. These grains will really help clear out dead skin and unclog pores. Be careful though as these products are strong stuff, you don't want to over do it. Once a day is more than anyone would need, no mater how oily your skin. Another simple tip is to wash your face with cold water, cold water will help open up your pores and make them easier to clean out. Hot water will actually tighten your pores making them impossible to unclog.
Good makeup will help downsize the look of large pores. However, always looks for oil free cosmetics as an oil-based product will only make matters worse. Additionally, avoid foundations™you don't need to cake it on. With makeup remember what your mother taught you, "Less is more, young lady." Heavy foundations will actually magnify the look of large pores, making them much more noticeable.
I personally recommend a Microdermabrasion for large pore treatment. Microderms are the best method to unclog pores that's both safe and inexpensive. My face always feels five pounds lighter after a Microdermabrasion.
Remember you can't get rid of pores, but you can shrink them down to size! In this case, what you can't see definitely won't hurt you.

I'm a big fan of IPL, but I would probably recommend a Microdermabrasion over Photofacial for large pores. A lot of people find photofacials a little intense, and it might not be worth it for a minor problem like large pores. I would suggest to get a Microdermabrasion, it's less expensive and easier on your skin, and if the results still aren't quite what you're looking for then up grade to a photofacial. As for chemical peels, I would stay clear unless you really trust the spa. Chemical peels can very intense and might not be what you're looking for to treat large pores.
Hope I helped,
Mia
