Tae-Bo was created by marital artist and fitness instructor Billy Blanks. Blanks developed the acronym for his system as Total Awareness Excellence Body Obedience. Tae-Bo is a cardio respiratory and strength training workout that involves elements of martial arts, boxing, and dance. Tae-Bo grew in popularity throughout the 90’s thanks in large part to celebrity endorsements. Due to its popularity, many health clubs started their own variation of cardio kickboxing classes.
