Happy Holidays and welcome to SignatureForum’s Health and Fitness blog!

This time of year, most of us are interested in one thing when it comes to health and fitness: Avoiding Holiday Weight Gain.

Here are a couple of Useful Tips for avoiding weight gain to keep in mind during the holidays

Don't overeat!

When you're hungry, DO eat whatever it is that you have a craving for, but DON'T eat until you're stuffed! Eat until you are satisfied. Each time we overeat, our stomachs expand a little bit to make room for the abundance of food we filled it with. Doing this repeatedly is in part what causes the infamous "spare tire" or "gut."

Drink more water.

I know what you're thinking. "Drinking more water will not make me less hungry. It'll make me less thirsty!" You are correct. However, many of us often mistake thirst for hunger so next time you are unsure, try drinking a glass of water first. If you still feel like the source of the urge is hunger, grab a bite to eat.

Join a health club!

If your holiday season is packed with one social gathering after another with spreads of delicious treats that you know you can't resist, join a health and fitness club. If you can commit to exercising for 30-45 minutes, 2 -3 times each week, you'll probably be able to spare yourself several of those extra holiday pounds.
