I have been a fitness instructor for the past 11 years; And one thing that I find to be consistent among all of the gyms where I've taught is there is always an unofficial list of "most embarrassing moments at the gym." In fact, many veteran employees and members can reference this list on command!
I'll pick on myself first...I was teaching a kickboxing class in Baton Rouge on a carpeted stage that sat about 3 feet off the main floor. In the middle of a lateral shuffling pattern, the right side of my right shoe caught the carpet and I did an army crawl/roll- off the stage, onto the floor. The momentum was so strong, I figured, "Why not add a summersault to the end of this humiliating moment, just for kicks!" The flip took me right into a standing position and I was right back to teaching! I wasn't injured at all, but my whole class of about 60 LSU students was in tears – laughing.
Everyone's seen the elliptical cardio machines with the handles which require the user to not only use their legs, but also require users to simultaneously push and pull the handles with their arms. Everyone also knows that many men like to cut the sleeves off their workout T-shirts to show off their bulging biceps and triceps. Matt is no different. I noticed his speed from 20 yards away as he moved his arms back and forth at 170 reps per minute. Then, without warning, the elongated arm hole of his shirt got caught on the top of his right handle, ripping his shirt completely off of his body! Thankfully, the only injury he experienced was to his pride.
