I’m working off the calories and I don’t even know it!

Fantastic news for all domestic engineers and part-time domestic engineers... We're all used to "sweatin' it" – no pun intended - when we can't make it to the gym for our daily dose of cardio exercise. Well, research shows that you aren't missing as much as you thought you were. You'll be surprised by the many types of moderate housework that actually help you to maintain your physique. Check out the list below, based on a 150 pound woman in her mid-30's.

  • Making the bed, burns an extra 65 calories
  • Unloading and reloading the dishwasher, burns an extra 75 calories
  • Ironing for 30 minutes, burns an extra 80 calories
  • Scrubbing floors, burns an extra 130 calories
  • Mowing the lawn, burns an extra 200 calories
  • Shoveling snow, burns an extra 200 calories
  • Carrying a 3 year-old up and down the stairs, burns an extra 300 calories

So, don't worry about ditching the gym once in a while. You deserve a break every now and then. Aren't you working out enough already?
